Guests that receive pre-arrival communication through the OpenKey HOST platform will follow the following guest flow:
Receive a pre-arrival email and or text from OpenKey 24 hours prior to arrival.
If the reservation contains an email address only, an email will be sent to begin the registration process.
If the reservation contains a mobile number, a text message will be sent to begin the registration process.
If the reservation contains both, an email and a text will be sent.
If a mobile number is listed on the reservation, the guest will receive a text message with a link to begin the registration process
Once either the link is clicked on the text or the QR code is scanned from the email, it will then direct the guest to this screen on the mobile device. Click Get Started at the bottom of the screen.
On this screen, you will be prompted to fill out the form by adding your phone number is mandatory and email is optional. Once the info is filled out you can then select an estimated time of arrival, click next a the bottom of the screen.
On this screen, you are prompted to read and agree to the hotel guest agreement. Click agree and sign
Sign your name on the screen and click submit.
Once you click Submit, the screen will show as successful with a green check mark, depending on what type of phone you registered on, you can click the option at the bottom to download the app in advance of your stay.
Allow OpenKey to access locations, Bluetooth, and send push notifications.
*These are required for mobile keys to be received and used to access locks.
Enter your phone number and verification code.
*New OpenKey users with reservations at hotels that integrate with OpenKey OR hotels that manually upload arrivals will be able to access the app prior to being issued a key. New OpenKey users with reservations at non-integrated hotels that do not manually upload arrivals will need to wait until they are manually added to OpenKey HOST before they can verify their phone number. This is because OpenKey has no way to connect their phone number to a reservation without the booking being available in the OpenKey system.
No additional action is required until the guest is checked into the hotel, whether it's prior to arrival or during a traditional check-in.
*Once the guest is checked into the hotel, they will receive a push notification and a text message letting them know their room is ready.
Re-open the app to initiate the key download.
