Each of these types of cards is created with the Hotel Intelligent Management System (HIMS) software program and the encoder (connected to the computer containing the HIMS software).
Please note that creating a card with HIMS/the encoder does not automatically activate it on the assigned lock. The lock must also "read" the card to accept the information encoded onto the card. This is done by holding/tapping the card onto the lock.
For Guest access:
Guest card - Used for guest access to assigned room and additional assigned areas (such as specific entrance/exit doors with a lock) as designated by the property staff.

For Guests and Property Staff access:
Elevator card - Used for property staff access to assigned elevator(s). This card is not needed unless the elevator(s) are equipped with locks that require specific, separate key access. It does not allow access to any rooms or other locked areas.

Multi-door card - Used for guest and property staff access to multiple rooms/areas at the property.

For Property Staff access:
Master card - Used for property staff access to all locks (regardless of building/floor) at the property.

Building card - Used for property staff access to locks in specific buildings at the property.

Floor card - Used for property staff access to locks on specific floors at the property.

For Property Staff use in lock management:
Cancel card - Prevents use of all cards except Authorization card and Guest cards.

Recover card - Restores card access for previously cancelled cards.

Access Stop card - Stops all previous Guest card access. Additionally, if used on a room currently assigned to a guest, it will disable the active Guest card. You will need to issue a new Guest card for that guest to continue having access to the room.

Time card - Used to update time on lock(s). It is important that the time on the lock(s) matches the time in the HIMS software. Time differences can affect key card functionality on the lock(s).

Lock Data card - Used to identify lock settings. For example, is a lock set to Passage Mode? Which floor/building is the lock in? etc.
